Wire and foil - Angels, Cats and Dogs
Join us in the scenic Meon Valley, Hampshire, for a fun and creative day exploring wire and metal.
Service Description
Join us in the scenic Meon Valley, Hampshire, for a fun and creative day exploring wire and metal foil art. Fine, flexible wire is a wonderful material to work with, allowing you to craft characterful objects with a delicate, drawn-like quality. You’ll also have the chance to experiment with recycled metal foil for embossing. Together, we’ll explore techniques such as joining, wrapping, shaping, and sculpting to create festive angels. Metal foils offer endless possibilities—you can cut and emboss designs to make whimsical flying cats, dogs, birds, or any winged creatures you choose. These unique creations will add charm to your home or make thoughtful gifts and decorative present toppers. This workshop is ideal for those with some experience in various creative processes and techniques. Your tutor, Liz Wellby, is a skilled artist, teacher, and maker with a passion for sculpture and printmaking. After earning a Fine Arts degree from Loughborough University and completing postgraduate studies, Liz settled near the Peak District in Derbyshire, where she has lived and worked for over 30 years with her husband and their cat, Bert. The workshop will take place in our beautiful thatched Long Barn at Meon Springs—an inspiring venue nestled on a working farm in the South Downs National Park. Please bring several empty tomato purée tubes and an apron.
