Beautiful Batik
At Blooming Designs, Batik is one of our most popular processes. As a textile designer, the technique proved to be one of my favourites because of the unique eye-catching designs I created. My batik designs sold all over the world for both the fashion and furnishings market. Blending tradition with innovation, we have developed a unique process that brings the ancient art of batik to both paper and fabric. Each piece is created by layering hot wax and vibrant dyes to build depth, texture, and striking contrast, resulting in artwork that is rich in colour and pattern.

At Blooming Designs, we bring a fresh, modern twist to one of the world’s oldest textile traditions. Our unique method, allows you to create beautiful colourful pieces on both paper and fabric using wax and dyes. We are one of the few studios in the UK to specialise in Batik on both paper and fabric—a unique blend of tradition, colour and pattern.
What Makes Our Batik Different?
Our process unlike conventional batik, which is traditionally done on fabric alone, involves creating batik on paper as well which in some ways allows for more experimentation. It is a highly addictive process and many of our students return to attend several of our workshops so they can develop their skill in this field.
Each piece—whether on cotton, silk, or paper, is individually hand-crafted using multiple layers of wax and dye. This careful build-up results in an intricate interplay of colors, textures, and forms, often reminiscent of stained glass or etched reliefs.
