Join us for a vibrant, creative day inspired by the colours, patterns and charm of Bloomsbury design. We will celebrate the beauty of everyday objects such as a bunch of seasonal flowers in a favourite jug, paired with cherished ornaments. From the richly patterned interiors of Charleston House to the expressive work of artists such as Vanessa Bell, Roger Fry and Duncan Grant, the Bloomsbury Group defined a distinctive, relaxed approach to art and domestic life. Their influence continues today in the work of contemporary artists including Emma Dunbar, Debbie George, Emily Maudey and Jo Aylward, all of whom explore pattern, colour and floral form with striking originality. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP This mixed media workshop will guide you through a range of techniques including collage, drawing and painting. You will be encouraged to experiment, explore composition and develop your own creative responses inspired by still life arrangements. Whether you are a beginner or looking to develop existing skills, the session offers space to experiment freely and be inspired by colour, pattern and form. YOUR TUTOR The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler of Blooming Designs. With over 30 years’ experience as a textile designer and illustrator, Alison will support you in developing confidence across a range of mixed media approaches. THE VENUE The workshop will be held in an inspiring creative setting on our working farm in the South Downs National Park, offering a calm and supportive environment for artistic exploration. WHO IS IT FOR? This workshop is suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to those with some experience who wish to develop their creative practice further.
