Service Description

Spring, summer and autumn can be an inspirational time for those with a love of gardens, with their beautiful colours, shapes and forms heralding a change in the seasons. Join us in the heart of the Meon Valley in Hampshire to explore floral imagery through a mixed media approach. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Our inspiration will be taken from seasonal cuttings from the adjacent farm garden, or alternatively you may wish to develop designs of your own choosing by bringing along images of flowers and foliage. We will also reference the work of artists such as Debbie George, Mary Fedden and Emma Dunbar. Alison will guide you through a range of exciting mixed media approaches, including drawing and painting, where there will be few, if any, rules. YOUR TUTOR The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler of Blooming Designs. With over 30 years’ experience as a textile designer and illustrator, Alison will support you in exploring colour, composition and expressive mark-making. THE VENUE The workshop will take place in the Stables at Meon Springs, a peaceful and inspiring space set within a beautiful working farm in the Meon Valley. WHO IS IT FOR? This workshop is suitable for those with a range of creative experience, from beginners to more experienced artists, with a maximum group size of 6 people. WHAT TO BRING Please bring along: An apron (optional) A4 floral ideas, drawings or images that inspire you A newspaper An A3 folder to transport your work home A large pale plate or flat palette A pencil case ADDITIONAL INFORMATION You may wish to extend your stay in the area and book one of our Shepherd’s Huts by the fishing lake, or stay in one of our glamping yurts, each with wood-burning stoves.
