Next promoted date: Sunday 11th October 2026 Explore Fashion Illustration and Design -.mixed media and wire. If your childhood desire to be a fashion illustrator or designer was firmly suppressed, now’s the time to let it out of the box and join us for a fun and creative day exploring mark making, pattern, collage and wire; your inner teenager will be very happy. Join us in the C18th Long Barn where we’ll start the day by developing numerous patterned papers, using a range of paints and inks and different types of paper. You’ll then use your papers to dress your fashion dolls, creating unique and imaginative outcomes. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore soft iron wire, creating wire fashion inspired drawings of heads. About the tutors: the workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler of Blooming Designs. With over 30 years experience as a textile designer and book illustrator, Alison will guide you through a range of exciting approaches. She will be joined by Liz Wellby, a versatile and experienced artist, teacher and maker, with a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post-graduate studies, she returned to Derbyshire, where for over 30 years she has lived and worked. Liz now lives and works on the edge of the Peak District, kept company by her husband and cat called Bert. This workshop is perfect for beginners and more experienced artists alike, ready to explore their inner fashion designer, with a willingness to play and experiment. The workshop will run from 10 - 4 pm, with places limited to 12, including tuition, materials and use of equipment, with refreshments served throughout the day: just bring your lunch*. *You also might like to bring along crayons, gel pens, Posca type pens, oil pastels etc, to add detail to your painted patterned papers.
