Intaglio printing with Tetra Paks

Service Description

Tetra Pak printing is an intaglio method of printmaking where marks are made into a plate (Tetra Pak) using an etching needle, or small sections of the surface are cut away with a craft knife, before printing. Ink is applied using intaglio etching inks, which are brushed into the incised areas and textured surface. The higher surfaces are then wiped clean to create highlights and mid tones, producing a rich and expressive print. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Plates will be run through a press with dampened or dry paper, enabling you to create a small edition of prints. This is a fun and expressive method of working that allows for experimentation and discovery. If you have previous experience of the process, there should be time to explore Chine-collé within your prints. No previous printmaking experience is needed, and this workshop will also suit printmakers looking to explore a new technique. YOUR TUTOR The workshop will be delivered by artist and maker Liz Wellby, who lives and works on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire. With over 30 years’ experience teaching and tutoring, and a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking, Liz will guide and support you throughout the workshop. THE VENUE The workshop will be held in an inspiring creative setting (insert venue details if needed), providing a relaxed and supportive environment for printmaking exploration. WHO IS IT FOR? This workshop is suitable for a range of abilities and creative experiences, from complete beginners to experienced printmakers looking to explore a new technique.
