Intaglio printing with Tetra Paks
Tetra Pak printing is an intaglio technique where marks are either etched into a Tetra Pak plate.
Service Description
Tetra Pak printing is an intaglio technique where marks are either etched into a Tetra Pak plate using an etching needle or small areas of the cardboard are carefully cut away with a craft knife. The plate is then inked with intaglio etching inks, which are worked into the recessed areas. The raised surface is wiped clean to create highlights and mid-tones. Using a printing press, the inked plate is transferred onto damp or dry paper, allowing you to produce a small edition of unique prints. This method is both fun and expressive, offering lots of creative freedom. No prior printmaking experience is necessary, but the workshop is also ideal for printmakers wanting to try a fresh technique. We will be joined by artist and maker Liz Wellby, who lives near the Peak District in Derbyshire. With over 30 years of teaching experience and a strong background in sculpture and printmaking, Liz will expertly guide and support you throughout the day. This workshop welcomes all skill levels and creative backgrounds. Please bring an apron, A5+ ideas for your designs, and your lunch. The workshop includes all materials, equipment use, and refreshments, runs from 10 am to 4 pm, and costs £99.
