Meon Springs

Service Description

The ancient craft of block printing has made a huge resurgence in recent years, made popular by designers such as Molly Mahon, bringing hand printed Indian block print designs to a wider audience. If you have ever considered designing and creating your own beautiful handcrafted designs on fabric, this could be the workshop for you. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP In this workshop, you will design and cut your own block print stamp, then print your design onto a range of paper and fabric products. You will also take your finished stamp away with you to continue using at home. You will begin by bringing along your design ideas for images, patterns and shapes, and learning how to translate these into a printable design. You will then cut your stamp using Essdee Master Cut and explore how to print it across a variety of surfaces. We will start with paper and card-based products such as gift tags and gift wrap, before progressing to fabric printing. You may choose to print tea towels or tote bags, or alternatively explore napkins, table runners, cushion covers or lampshades.* By the end of the day, you will have a greater understanding of the block printing process, from design to finished product. YOUR TUTOR The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler. With over 30 years’ experience as a textile designer and book illustrator, Alison enjoys sharing her wide-ranging skills and knowledge. THE VENUE The workshop will be held in either The Stables or the Long Barn, depending on group size. Both are inspirational spaces on a working farm in the South Downs National Park. WHO IS IT FOR?
