For those of you who regularly join us for Art in the Barn, you may have seen our decorative wire pieces be they wire dogs, birds in cages or wire tea cups and teaspoons and a number of you will have created your own beautiful outcomes. However, for the uninitiated amongst you, fine and flexible wire is a lovely material to work with, enabling you to create characterful objects, with a drawn-like quality to them, all without causing harm to your hands.
Come along on Saturday 19th October and learn how to create a range of beautiful, decorative pieces of sculpture, inspired by fish and birds. We’ll explore joining techniques, wrapping, shaping and sculpting wire and your pieces will surely take pride of place in your home and be admired by many. We’re also going to introduce you to using recycled metal foil, by embossing.
This workshop will suit folks with experience of different creative processes and techniques.
We will be joined by artist and maker Liz Wellby, who lives and works on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire, who will guide and support you throughout the day. Liz is a versatile and experienced artist, teacher and maker, with a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post-graduate studies, she returned to Derbyshire, where for over 30 years she has lived and worked.
This workshop is suitable for a range of abilities and creative experiences. Places are limited to 12.
The workshop will run from 10 til 4pm, including: tuition, materials and use of equipment and light refreshments served throughout the day - just bring your lunch.
