Join us for a relaxing session learning how to make a hand felted bowl using wool fibres and the wet felting method. This workshop will be run by Rachel Morley who has been making felt for almost 20 years. Rachel has a Fine Art Degree and Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas in Feltmaking.
During the session you will be guided through the felting process, the handling of the wool fibres, and use of a resist to create your own unique 3D bowl.
Attendance numbers are kept small to enable the tutor to give you the one-on-one time and attention to explore your creativity, so by the end of your session, you will not only have learnt a new skill but have completed your handmade vessel.
Our venue for the day will be the beautiful Long Barn at Meon Springs, set in the heart of the South Downs National Park
All tools and materials are included. Aprons will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners or people who want a new project.
The workshop will run from 10 - 4pm and costs £99.
Refreshments will be served throughout the day - just bring your lunch.
Felt Pot Workshop
Here’s something a little different!
Rachel our Felting Tutor has recently discovered an alternative and fun way of creating a 3D vessel by felting around a Ball!
For this Workshop you will learn how to create your own Felt Pot from the outside in which is the opposite way to the usual felt bowl method of working inside to out.
Your design is placed around the Ball before adding fibre layers in small amounts on top, much like a papier-mâché technique and it is kept wet by spraying with warm soapy water throughout.
Once the fibre layers are complete your felt pot is encased in thin plastic and some tights (to secure the layers) before sessions of bouncing the ball on the table surface commences. This is when the fun truly starts!
After a few sessions of bouncing and hand felting we have the exciting moment of turning your pot the right way around to reveal your pot design!
All equipment and materials are provided as well as aprons - with the bouncing method some soapy water inevitably flies around!
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and also people with some experience of felting.
The Workshop is from 10am until 4pm and costs £99.
Refreshments will be served throughout the day - just bring your lunch.
