Block Printing on Fabric

If you have ever considered designing and creating something to use in your home or thought about making personalised gifts for your family and friends, this is the workshop for you.

Simply bring along your design ideas for images, patterns and shapes.  We provide tote bags and tea towels on which you can print. 

If you would like to go a step further, you could bring along a lampshade kit on which to print.   I would suggest the Needcraft Drum Lampshade Kit.  These can be purchased at Danells - Go for a 20cm to 30cm size.

On the day you will learn how to translate your ideas into a design, before cutting a stamp using Essdee Master Cut and then printing your design on your chosen item.

We will initially create paper and card based products, such as gift tags and gift wrap, before printing onto tea towels, tote bags or your lampshade.

The workshop is delivered by Alison Butler and Liz Wellby.
 Alison has over 25 years experience as a textile designer and book illustrator whilst Liz is an experienced teacher, tutor and maker, with a particular interest in print making.

 This workshop is suitable for people with a range of creative experiences, wishing to explore printing stamps onto paper and fabric, for a maximum of 10 people. 

 Please bring along: an apron, A5/6 ideas/drawings/images that inspire you and a large newspaper in which to transport your work home.

 Two tea towels or a tote bag will be provided - please state your preference at the time of booking. Further items may also be ordered/purchased at the time of booking: tea towels and small tote bags - 

If you have any  fabric samples in cotton or linen you may wish to bring these along to experiment further, the possibilities are endless... you can create anything from a small lavender bag to some new cushions for your sofa! Just give them a wash and an iron.

The workshop will run from 10 - 4pm. including tuition, materials and use of equipment; refreshments will be served throughout the day - just bring your lunch.
