Christmas Tree Decorations
It’s that time of year!
Come along and learn how to make Christmas Tree decorations using wool fibres and the needle felting method.
Needle Felting is a dry process where the wool fibres are jabbed together using special felting needles.
The Workshop will begin with creating 2D Christmas Tree decorations using cookie cutters and felting needles to help form Christmas shapes.
This is a great introduction to needle felting as using the cutters protects your fingers from the needles which is good for beginners to the process.
The felting needles have sharp barbs along their length designed to push and pull the wool fibres up and down to encourage them to hold together into a felt fabric - your Christmas decoration. As such, it’s not great to jab them into your fingers! I do provide leather finger guards for those who don’t trust themselves but most people reassuringly manage without them.
There is plenty of scope to make your own unique handmade felt decorations in different colours and shapes. For this Workshop we will use a star and a bauble cutter shape and all the materials and equipment are provided for you.
Continuing the day you will learn how to form 3D bauble shapes and decorate them with coloured wool fibres and yarns to make a few Christmas Baubles for your own tree or to gift to others. They do make lovely gifts!
Rachel will be on hand throughout to offer her felting knowledge and guidance and it promises to be a lovely festive day in the Barn!
The Workshop runs from 10am to 4pm with a short break for lunch.
Tea/coffee and biscuits/cake will be offered throughout the day, just bring your own packed lunch.
