WORKSHOP 6 Transferring Design to Textiles
Monday 25th March 2019 - Full Day
Transferring Design to Textiles
Join us on Monday 25th March to explore creative techniques that can be used to transfer your design ideas onto textiles.
Artist and maker in residence, Liz Wellby will guide you through a range of processes that will allow you to apply various inks to fabric, which you may then work back into using your favourite hand or machine embroidery techniques.
This one day workshop will allow you to develop sample pieces using images from your chosen themes, be they ideas inspired by landscape, flowers or the coast.
Alternatively, we will provide a range of 2 and 3D images and objects from several cultures, allowing you to explore colour and pattern from inspirational artefacts. Both starting points may be approached in a representational or abstract manner.
This workshop is suitable for those with a range of creative experiences and a particular interest in hand or machine embroidery, for a maximum of 12 people.
Please bring along: an apron, A4 or A3 ideas/drawings/images that inspire you, a newspaper and an A3 folder to transport your work home, a large pale plate or flat palette, a pencil case and several samples of A4 or A3 pieces of fabric that you use for your textile work, a range of threads, needles, scissors etc. If you favour free machine embroidery you may bring along your sewing machine.
This full day workshop will run from 10am - 4pm and includes all materials and equipment, refreshments and a delicious homemade lunch that will be served in the barn and costs £95.
